At the beginning of 2016 I shared my Bucket List. It consists of all the travel related things I wished to accomplish this year. I think I did a pretty decent job at doing most of the things on my list. I even was able to add some things that weren't originally on the list. Overall this year has been great and I'm so happy I was able to experience everything I did this past year.
I figured now would be the perfect time to recap my year and see how it compared to my list.
On the list
In January I took a trip to Dallas, TX to watch my daughter compete in her first gymnastics competition of the season. We arrived to some fist size hail which was a first for the kids. I think the temperature was about 30 degrees or even colder. I'm not quite sure. All I know is it felt like close to zero. While there we took time out to visit South Fork Ranches the home of JR Ewing from the TV series Dallas. Read about it Here.
In February we took a quick trip to Houston for another competition. On that trip we were able to see all the Olympic hopefuls compete as they made their way to Rio. Mini Me competed at the NRG complex so we were able to see the home of the Houston Texans.
In April during the kids' spring break we headed up to Wellinston, FL to the Devil's Den to go snorkeling. It's an underground cave filled with spring water. It was absolutely amazing experience. After that we headed over to St. Petersburg where we visited the Salvador Dali Museum in downtown St Petersburg. We finished off our trip watching the sunset right off the beach. Read about it Here and Here.
In June we were off again to Providence, RI via Boston, MA. I think I'm in love Rhode Island. We were there for 5 days. On one of the days we had free we ventured over to Newport where we toured the Vanderbilt mansion. We also explored the Cliff Walk. I don't think I've ever seen a sight so beautiful. Read about it Here.
Not On The List
In May we traveled to Chattanooga, TN via Atlanta, GA, another gymnastic competition. Mini Me did great in her competition but we didn't care for Chattanooga. We did find a wonderful pizza place that we visited twice while we were there. On our way back we stopped at the Wide World of Coke in Atlanta. This was our second time there and of course we had just as much fun the second time as we did the first time we were there.
In July I took the kids and my Mom to Disney World. I know, I've done Disney so many times with them when they were little but it just never gets old. We had a great time as always. I'm happy we did because we where able to see the last showing of the Electrical Parade before it was retired by Disney.
In August right after the kids went back to school I use the free nights I got from my trips earlier in the year to book a staycation on Ft Lauderdale Beach. This was a much needed Mommy break to get me ready for all the stress of the new school year. Read about it Here.
In October for my BIG 40 I decided to go to Costa Rica. I'm so happy I did. I had the most amazing time. I celebrated my birthday ATV riding through the rain forest, ziplining across the forest and repelling down a 300 feet waterfall. Read about it Here.
In October to continue celebrating by heading to the ATL. This was strictly a party time and boy did I party. I also ate some really good food during this stay. I wanna go back already.
On The List But Didn't Happen
California - I so badly wanted to go but it just didn't pan out this year. My brother and sister-in-law live in Los Angeles so I will be adding it to my 2017 bucket list.
Tampa, FL Busch Gardens - honestly I added this to the list for the kids but I'm truly over Busch Gardens and I don't really like Tampa so Disney was a better fit for me.
Homestead, FL Coral Castle - I just never got around to driving down to homestead. Kinda sad since it's not that far away. Maybe I'll add it to the 2017 list.
Convention, GA - Really wanted to visit the sight where the Vampire Diary is filmed so this might have to go on this year's list. Honestly just forgot it was on my list when I went up to Georgia this year.
Hot Air Balloon - This will definitely be added to the 2017 bucket list. It should actually be on the top of the list. I gotta do this before I die. Unfortunately the closes place to do it is in the Orlando area. I don't think I want to do it there though. I want to experience more breath-taking scenery.
I think that's it. I hope I didn't miss anything. After writing this I realized I did a lot this year. All I can say is it was a blessed year and I'm stepping into 2017 hoping for an even more spectacular year.
