I've never been much of a festival girl but keeping with my 40 and Fabulous theme of stepping outside of the box, I ventured out to the Jazz In The Gardens Music Festival (JITG). This festival has been running for 13 years in the South Florida area. It takes place in Miami Gardens with the newly renovated Hard Rock Stadium as the backdrop. It’s a 2 day festival filled with good music, amazing vendors and beautiful people.
Day 1 was the more laid back of the two days. The festival featured Smokey Robinson , Fantasia and Chaka Khan. My favorite out of the bunch was Fantasia. Her voice was amazing as always and to be honest I've yet to see her put on a bad performance.
Day 2 was my favorite with featured artist Anita Baker, Joe, Kid & Play, Salt & Pep & Miami's own Trick Daddy. It was definitly more upbeat and none of the artist on the line-up disappointed.
There are two seating options at the festival. You can choose general admission or reserved seating. General admission allows you the freedom to bring your own lawn chair, blanket or lounger and choice where you want to sit. It's located further away from the stage but you have way more flexibility back there. Reserved seating is good if you don't want to have to get there early to secure you spot. It's also closer to the stage.
Overall I gotta say it was a great experience and definitely worth checking out. I can see why people come from all over the country just to enjoy the beauty and magic of Jazz In The Garden.
